What can you tell me about the Mid-South Forestry Equipment Show?

The Mid-South Forestry Equipment Show is the Deep South’s premier forestry show for 2010. It is the oldest outdoor, live logging demonstration in the nation where equipment manufacturers are allowed to operate their equipment in actual field conditions. The show has been in operation for 27 years providing a grass-roots technology transfer between loggers, landowners, foresters, and equipment manufacturers. The two-day attendance at the June 2008 show exceeded 6,000.

Where is the show held?

The show is permanently located in the heart of the mid-South, seven miles south of Starkville on Mississippi State University’s 8500-acre John W. Starr Memorial Forest. It is easily accessible by four-lane MS Highway 25. The 10-acre base site includes a 60x100 foot pavilion which was erected in 2003 and an open yard for static exhibits. When will the next show take place?

The Mid-South Forestry Equipment show is a biennial event. The next show will be held Friday and Saturday, September 17 & 18, 2010. Show times for both days are 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Will there be activities for my family?

The Mid-South Forestry Equipment show is a “family-friendly” event. The registration fee to the show includes admission for the attendee’s spouse and accompanied children under 18 years of age. There is also a children’s area located at the show site. At the 2008 show, this area featured activities for all ages such as the Little Folks Skidder Contest, the Truck Stop, the Sand Box, and a Moon Walk. Will there be assistance for disabled and elderly attendees?

Yes. The show staff will have golf-carts or similar transportation available in order to assist visitors along the show thoroughfare and between the parking area and registration.

There are over 65 lodging choices within an hour drive of the show site including hotels and bed & breakfast accommodations, RV parks and campgrounds, state parks, and a casino-hotel and spa resort.
